Vestige: new Spradling® launch that exalts herringbone design

  • Elegant, traditional and classic styling are some of its prime attributes.
  • It is suitable for indoor and outdoor use, making it ideal for contract, marine and transport applications.
  • The new collection will comprise a palette of 23 colourways.
  • Vestige enhances Spradling’s sustainable portfolio

There are few trends that manage to endure over time to become a design benchmark, with the ability to be adapted both in fashion and in interior design. The Herringbone design is undoubtedly one of them. Its origin dates back to the woven fabrics of the ancient Romans and Egyptians, while in contemporary fashion it became popular during the 19th century; today it is renewed with Vestige, our most recent launch, which demonstrates the versatility of this pattern and Spradling’s innovation in coated fabrics.

Emulating wool weaves and the herringbone pattern with a zigzag structure, the design of the new Spradling® collection simulates the effect of depth and movement with a textile-like finish, which has long been a symbol of luxury and sophistication. Thus, Vestige bursts forth with a style that adapts to decorative spaces ranging from classic to contemporary.

“With this launch we sought to take a resource that is related to both fashion and apparel, whilst

combining it with natural elements. Hence its name, as it evokes the remains of the earth - such

as fossils - that give rise to this concept. This is how we consolidate a new product, which adds to our

broad portfolio of coated fabrics”, explained Juan Eduardo Aldana, Head of Global Design at

Spradling®.

Catering to European consumer preferences, the palette consists of 23 colourways, where earth tones were the main focus. With a range of brown tones, inspired by wood, and beiges, inspired by sand, play a leading role; however, the portfolio also features attractive accents in shades of blue, green and scarlet, which help bring this launch to life.

SUSTAINABILITY CONVERGES WITH DESIGN

The connection with nature does not start from a conceptual element, but from its structural construction. For this reason, Vestige is a product that, in addition to providing a warm and comforting design, has sustainable characteristics. One of its most important attributes is its textile backing, made from 100% recycled PET bottles.

Through a mechanical and thermal processes, this type of plastic is broken down to convert it into a yarn with which the backing of the coated fabric is woven. This is a development we have implemented as part of our innovation processes to make Spradling’s products increasingly environmentally friendly, eliminating energy-intensive extraction processes and avoiding the disposal of PET plastic in landfills and water sources.

In addition, Vestige is Indoor Air Quality certified to meet the most stringent indoor air quality standards and GreenGuard Gold certified to adhere to leading chemical emissions standards for safer and cleaner environments. Additionally, Vestige range of sophisticated coated fabrics is also phthalates free. Other important safety attributes of Vestige include flame retardant certification including: EN 1021 Part 1&2, M2, B2, and IMO. This product also has Permablok3® a special protective coating that ensures the safety, compliance and durability of the fabric in all environments.

With Vestige, we continue to expand our portfolio of coated fabrics that combine the best of timeless design with innovation towards a more sustainable world.
